Finally, let us not forget that in Russia the word "borsch" appeared long before this popular dish. According to the dictionary Vasmer, the original of its value - cow parsnip, and today's "red beet soup" were so called because in the past it was cooked from hogweed. Therefore, the combination of the words "Moscow" and "borsch" anyone but tourists from Ukraine, is not surprising.
