Replacement

Honesty
Is a curious thing
It takes from you the outcome you intended to manufacture
The only thing that seemed to get you through
The child's dream of freedom
Cinderella's happily ever after
It takes from you the one thing you needed to survive
Alone in the desert
For days without water
It takes that from you
And replaces it
With something else
Something you secretly wanted
But would never have dared to expect
