My Killerpix Contest Entries, Week 28

in #killerpix6 years ago

The theme of this week's contest hosted by @killerwhale, is "Religion."

Here are my two entries:

1. Long exposure of a replica Norwegian stave church, that was built on the little island of Heimaey off the southern coast of Iceland. I've photographed a lot of churches in different parts of the world, but this is still one of my favourites.

2. I won't spoil your interpretation of this one with words. This is a selfie, made with the help of a friend, in his studio using a softbox that I converted into a window using Photoshop.

Nice architecture...nice sky..

Thanks, yes, I was really lucky that the clouds were blowing in that direction!

Aww, the church edit is freaking awesome!

Is there anything else interesting on Heimaey? I am in the process of creating a list of places to visit in Iceland :)

Well, we didn't explore it tooooo much, but there are some trails to good vantage points of the town and island, and if you go at the right time of year you can see puffins. If you like the TV show Friends, you'll enjoy the ferry ride to get to the island.

The main attraction is of course seeing the new hill and cooled lava from the 1973 eruption that partially buried the town - pretty incredible story!

Well, I have only watched a few episodes of it, so I can't really say that I'm part of the Friends cult. But I am now curious about what the connection to the TV show is :)

The cooled lava looks pretty awesome from the pictures on the Internet. Thanks Derek! I will consider visiting it :)

The ferry plays Friends nonstop on the TVs. We took the ferry twice and I'm sure we saw some of the same episodes in 2010 as we did again in 2012. ;)

Really great shots @derekkind keep it up.👏👏👏

Hey thank you, @chellelbaguio, I will! :)

wow realy great pictures, you know your camera :)
