Working parents, more than other categories of people know what it’s like to be very busy as well as what it takes to multi task. At a lot of times, they find themselves stuck between their work (career), house hold duties, parents, friends, social life and their kids. In the long run, the responsible ones manage to divide the time as much as possible to see that they are not lacking in any of the feat.
They try their best to see to it that their kids has the best while also working very hard to ensure that their career is not stagnant. This, they do while sacrificing a lot of things or prioritizing and trying to pick out only the most important.
It is however very disappointing for some parents that in the long run, they find their kids departing from the type of upright moral upbringing they assumed they have instilled in them. A lot of parents become sad and disappointed when they learn their kids have been involved in a thing or the other which they have thought they are incapable of doing. But the question is Do you really know your kids?
From your perspective, you probably assume you are giving them all that are possible. You pay their fees, you give out allowance at the right time, you advice you admonish as well as do a lot of other things that is expected of you as a parent. So, it is quite usually disappointing if you find your kids doing things you have never thought they could do. A teacher calls to inform you your kids have been involved in bullying of other kids or even been involved in a fight? You start to wonder when your child emulated such a behavior. You get to the office and keep staring at your kid like… “Really? You bully other kids, or you beat up people?” When such question like this pop up, you start to wonder where you went wrong. But the real fact is you may have thought you knew your kid, but you don’t.
Spending quality time together with your kid will help you avoid situations like this. It will help you listen to them, study them, make observations and even draw conclusion on their type of behavior. If your kids are around you, you get to listen to them talk about movies they have seen, they part they love, their fears and even the things that make them happy. With this, you can get to know what to expect from each kid and make a conclusion on their personalities,
Everyone knows it isn’t easy, but the moment you made the decision to be a parent, know that there are conditions attached. You do not have to take that overtime weekend work if it isn’t necessary, you do not have to be at every party organized by friends( it’s okay to be absent once in a while), create time for your kids and get to know them well. Then, you can know what they need and what to expect from them.
Create time for yourself too, do not get lost being a parent
