Why we collect toys?

I think there is something special about toy collecting.

Childhood Memories And Interest

Some people collect toys because of childhood memories or ongoing interests in certain cartoons, comics, video games and movies. A friend of mine shared with me my favourite childhood toy; the Japanese Mask Rider. I realise that I didn't just open a toy, I opened my childhood. I had these flashbacks of my childhood and it makes me feel really really good. These toys bring back to a time when life was simpler.

My Friend Love This

Our decision to collect toys could also be influenced by friends. Some collectors end up collecting toys because their friends are collectors. I started my Batman Lego because of someone in the office showing off his Lego creation.

For The Kids

Commercial company targeted at kids and kids were constantly encouraged by the toy commercials on TV to “collect them all”. Since kids have no or little money to purchase them, the toys have to be appealing to the parents.



Because Of Love

I know couples who got to know each other and eventually got married because of their shared interests in collecting toys.

Cute overload

Japanese anime toys in the coin machines; they are just too cute that I have witnessed adults emptying their coin purses to keep slotting into the machines so as to get the complete set!

Business Opportunities>

Some people see collectible toys as business opportunities. They buy up the rare toys especially and sell them for profits. Although toy collecting is a hobby. You actually could be sitting on a gold mine. Some toys that are from the past are worth a lot of money. Collecting is fun, and if you keep going, some day you might become a millionaire.!
