Keto Breadsticks
I made three different types of breadsticks today: Italian style, extra cheesy, and cinnamon sugar. Two sweet flavors that taste amazing dipped in a cream cheese buttercream, and two savory flavors that taste fantastic just dipped in some tomato sauce (I use Rao's) (1 oz. Cream Cheese, 2 tbsp. Heavy Cream, and 1 tbsp. Swerve Sweetener).
The dough for the Low Carb Pepperoni Pizza and the Keto Roti John served as the foundation for my recipe for the breadsticks. This dough is incredibly adaptable, and I have no doubt that it will aid many individuals in their search for suitable ketogenic food replacements.
These tasty morsels go wonderful dipped in just about anything and are ideal for the approaching Super Bowl. These will effectively quell cravings for cheesy breadsticks or Cinna-stix from your neighborhood pizzeria.
Note: If you use a full batch of dough to make one type of breadstick, the ingredient list for that type of breadstick will be different. You must use 1/3 of all the components for each breadstick flavoring if, like me, you wish to make all three types with a single batch of dough.
24 Keto breadsticks are produced.
THE PREPARATION..
Bread Stick Base
-2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded, (8 oz.)
-¾ cup almond flour
-1 tablespoon psyllium husk powder
-3 tablespoons cream cheese
-1 large egg
-1 teaspoon baking powder
Italian Style
-2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
-1 teaspoon salt
-1 teaspoon pepper
Extra Cheesy
-1 teaspoon garlic powder
-1 teaspoon onion powder
-3 ounces cheddar cheese
-¼ cup Parmesan cheese
Cinnamon Sugar
-3 tablespoons butter
-6 tablespoons Swerve sweetener
-2 tablespoons cinnamon
Directions
- Heat the oven to 400F. Cream cheese and egg should only be barely mixed. Place aside.
- Combine the almond flour, psyllium husk, and baking powder in a bowl with the other dry ingredients.
- Microwave the mozzarella cheese for 20 seconds at a time. When you take the cheese out of the microwave, stir it, then keep heating it in there until it starts to sizzle.
- Combine the mozzarella cheese with the egg, cream cheese, and dry ingredients.
- Combine the dough with your hands. After combining, place on a silpat.
- Continue pressing the dough flat until you have enough for an entire baking sheet. On use a pizza cutter on the dough, transfer it to some foil. Never use a knife or anything sharp on a silpat!
- Cut the dough and season it with the aforementioned ingredients.
- Bake for 13 to 15 minutes, until crisp.
- Offer hot food! The sweet breadsticks can be topped with cream cheese frosting, and the savory breadsticks can be served with marinara.
