In Kenya seven critically endangered rhinos have died. Probably because of human negligence

Seven critically endangered Black rhinoceros died in Kenya a week after they were relocated to the Tsavo National Park in the south of the country. Altogether, they transported 14 rhinos at the end of June, the cause of the deaths of seven of them was human failure according to some media.

As a reason for their death, AP reported negligence and referred to an anonymous source from KWS. Other agencies and the media write that it is not yet clear why the animals died.

Excessive transport and then a disaster

Seven dead animals belonged to a group of 14 rhinos that contributed to raising the population of this endangered species in the Tsavo National Park.

Nature Conservative Paula Kahumbu, of the WildlifeDirect NGO, said the loss of rhinos is a "complete disaster".

In Kenya, there is 80% of the world's population of Black rhinoceros. "This loss is higher than the number of rhinos who were lost because of poachers," said Cathy Dean of Save the Rhino, a nonprofit organization.
