The second option is by road. The distance between Srinagar to Jammu is 300 kms and will take up to 8 to 9 hours. While travelling you will experience the marvellous beauty of nature. To reach Kashmir valley you cross lots of Himalayan ranges as well as tunnels. On the way you pass through many places such as Nagrota, Udhampur, Chenani, Ramban, Digdol, Banihal, Qazigund ,Anantnag. But if you still want to travel via train you can reach Jammu or Katra or Udhampur railway station by train and from there you can take a cab to reach Banihal railway station. From Banihal station you can easily travel to Srinagar via train.

The stretch between Udhampur and Banihal is yet to be connected via train to the rest of India railway network. So for this portion you will have to hire a taxi. However, The work is going on at full pace and this mega project and it is set to be completed by Year 2023-2024. There is also the world’s highest bridge installed on Chenab river with height more than that of the Eiffel tower of Italy.
