Kambria: A Decentralized Open Robotics Platform

Screenshot_20180731-121308.pngThe Robotics Industries is a largely siloed industry i.e there are different organizations developing tech by themselves and not really sharing the results out. Sometimes I really like we are developing all these tools for the new economy but we are stuck with this infrastructure in the economic models of the previous economy. Many developers also lack the tools in the interface needed to easily make their own tech not to mention of course that there are mass of start-up cost which make very prohibitive for small teams or young entrepreneurs to get involved in the Robotics Industry.
Robotics as an industry is currently focused on primary industry but there is a gargantuan untapped potential outside of the industry for Robotics and everyday household uses. Many of these Robots which you may have seen in Twitter, Facebook and YouTube are incredibly cost prohibitive. Many of those cost millions dollars to make but they serve as great concept pieces. They are not really useful for retail buyers.
Kambria is really trying to draw an inspiration from widely popular open-source operating system like Linux and Android. With these kind of philosophy, Kambria is trying on open robotics repository, comprising of high behavior libraries, modular hardware components. Kambria goal is to create an ecosystem where contributions can be shared, manufactured and implemented.
WHAT IS KAMBRIA?
Kambria is a decentralized open innovation platform managed by Kambria International (“KI”) that will foster a collaborative ecosystem, with the goal of dramatically accelerating the development and adoption of the world's most advanced robotic technologies. Kambria goal is to design and deliver the most capable yet affordable consumer robots at 10x the speed, efficiency,
and ease.
The Kambria platform will first and foremost be providing a marketplace where businesses, developers and community can all connect together. They want to tap into a worldwide network of developers and roboticists. For example, a company needing a solution can go and look for providers by issuing a bounty in the K80 or the KAT Token or they can also help drive competitions in the innovations like the DARPA challenge event. But on the marketplace on the reverse side, you can actually have researchers proposing work and get funding for developing like KickStarter.
