"Daddy, daddy, daddy lookit lookit daddy", the little girl spoke loudly as she danced from foot to foot pointing in the direction for her daddy to look. The little girls daddy looked over the edge of his newspaper to see what had gotten his little princess so gleefully happy.

He saw her bouncing and dancing a big huge smile on her face pointing. he turned to see what she was pointing a, "what are they daddy? they are so beautiful looking." Her daddy looked up and saw the hummingbirds at the feeder. As tears filled his eyes, he stared awed by the beautiful sight, he spoke in a very soft voice to his daughter "Those sweet Ruby of mine are Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. Your mother loved to just sit and watch them feed from that very feeder while she was pregnant with you".

"I miss mommy daddy, do you think she is okay where she is now"? Ruby's father bent down and picked his little girl up to hold her. "Yes dear I think your mommy is where she needs to be now, I think she is doing fine." he said with tears in his eyes. Every season he would fill hummingbird flower feeder and keep it filled in hopes the birds would return, to let him know his wife was alright, it had been seven seasons since the birds fed, he knew now that all was right in his and his little Ruby's home and heart. His wife, Ruby's mother, was where she needed to be now.
