Diary entry
We’ve been persevering with training our daughter to sleep on her own over the past couple of days. Her first reaction when she wakes up during the night is to find her mum, wanting to be breast-fed back to sleep. But over the past few days I’ve been getting up during the night and patting her back to sleep. It’s been exhausting as it takes much longer to put her back to sleep this way. Sometimes it takes around an hour to get her to fall back asleep. In the long run though, it’s necessary and I’m hopeful her sleep will improve with the changes.
Yesterday we took our car to repairs after it got damaged from the hail storm last year. So we will be without the car over the next few weeks. So we’ve been dependent upon my mum more and going over to her place at night for dinner. As a result we’ve had to cancel my son’s swimming classes for this term. It’s interesting how dependent we get upon our vehicles.
Last night my wife and kids came to meet me at the train station after work. It’s so nice to have my son run towards me and give me a big hug after a long day at work.
Habits I want to develop
Here are the habits I want to develop and goals I want to work towards
- Go out for a walk each day and exercise
- Speak words of life - say more encouraging and thanks giving words each day, and reduce complaining, blame and negativity
- Catch up with friends on a regular basis
- Give to someone or some cause, or do something for someone
So here's how I did against these habits/goals
Didn’t get to put into practice many of the desired habits today. Had a rough morning yesterday, but since then, my interactions have been very positive. Caught up on the phone with one of my closest friends last night and been mostly positive with my words and actions last night and today.
To learn about the motivation for my daily journal and how it got started, you can read the intro post here.
hi bro how are you?
I liked your post @nextgen622 is natural, sincere and motivated. My wife and I also lived something similar when my daughter was months old. Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm in the midst of any challenge.
Hi @nextgen622
I really love and always commend those that do have time for their families, love ones and people around them. I commend you for that.
I love this also
There are people that all what they need is those words of encouragement to keep them going.
Thanks
Good for you @nextgen622 as you got off track a little bit with your desired goals/habits but seemed to have got back on track.
And I know it's an amazing feeling when your child comes to hug you at the end of the day. That's about as good as it gets in Life :)
