Trump attacks again John McCain, who died in 2018
US President Donald Trump on Sunday attacked John McCain, who died of cancer seven months ago, accusing the former war hero of having leaked a controversial case in 2016 containing unproven allegations about the Republican candidate.
"So it was indeed (just proven in court documents)" the last of the class "(Annapolis) John McCain who sent the False File to the FBI and the media hoping to see it published BEFORE the election," said the billionaire on Twitter.
He was referring to a report written in late 2016 and published in the US press in January 2017 by a former British intelligence officer, Christopher Steele. This document, with its uncertain authenticity, seemed to attest to a collusion between Mr Trump's campaign team and Russia to favor his election.
"He and the Dems (Democrats, Ed), allies, have failed (as usual). Even the Fake News refused this pile of garbage, "said Trump.
Its supporters denounce indeed a report at load written at the request of a cabinet financed by the campaign team of the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
The day before, the Republican billionaire had echoed on Twitter the words of former independent prosecutor Kenneth Starr referring to "a very dark task on John McCain," about his alleged role in the dissemination of the Steele file.
He also described as a "task" the vote of the former Arizona senator against the reform bill, wanted by Donald Trump, the health insurance law called Obamacare.
Meghan McCain, the daughter of John McCain, retorted to the president's tweet resuming Saturday that he would do better to spend his Saturdays with his "family rather than Twitter being obsessed with mine."
Donald Trump and John McCain have never hidden their mutual contempt. Mr. Trump, who was exempted from military service, mocked in 2015 the status of John McCain's hero of the Vietnam War, who was imprisoned and tortured for five years.
The senator, a respected figure of American politics, had also withdrawn his support for the Republican candidate after the broadcast during the campaign of sexist remarks of Mr. Trump.
John McCain died on August 25, 2018 at 81 years of brain cancer. He had said before his death that he did not want the current president to attend his funeral.
