What's That Job - Manicurist/Pedicurist

in #job7 years ago

What's That Job is a series that reviews jobs, why you need communication skills for that job, and the dress code.

Manicurists and pedicurists wash, trim, and glamorize nails. They often work in spas
and salons, however, about 30% are self employed. They make around $20,820
annually (according to the BLS Occupational Employment Statistics survey).
Manicurists and pedicurists need to be creative and have good finger and hand
dexterity. In addition, if they run their own business, they need to have good business
skills.

Communication skills are important for manicurists and pedicurists. They need to listen
to their customers so they can properly interact with them and meet their needs. In
addition, they want to make their customers comfortable. When they create positive
relationships, they encourage business.

Manicurists and pedicurists would usually wear ‘business casual’ (e.g., fashionable,
loose clothing), and sometimes a cover-up to prevent polish from getting on them. They
also might wear a mask over their nose and mouth.
