Are we resting with Christ?

In Mark 4 we see the story of Jesus asleep in the boat with the disciples. While in the boat there is such a strong storm that they are in that the disciples are believing they will die. A number of the disciples we know were fishermen. Men who were well experienced with everything the sea could throw their way. If they are in fear of their lives, then we know the situation is extreme. Somehow, Jesus was asleep in the middle of this.
We know the disciples wake him, claiming Jesus didn't care if they died or not. Christ then answered their desire and calmed the storm and they marveled at the act. But was that really what Jesus was wanting to do?
It doesn't seem he had any intention of calming the storm around them. I believe him resting was actually an invitation for the disciples to do the same and rest with him while the storm carried them to their destination. We know Jesus is interested in the heart over any external or natural condition. Everything we see in the world is a reflection of mankind's heart and spiritual state.
What if Christ was never interested in calming the external storm because he wanted the disciples to experience the internal peace and calm that He was demonstrating in that moment? What if the wind and the waves was actually pushing them to the other side of the sea where they wanted to go and Jesus was inviting them to just rest in the journey?
Jesus answered their prayers and calmed the storm since they seemingly couldn't take anymore. He turned to them and said "you of little faith." Could their faith have been little in regards to the fact the Father was near despite the chaos surrounding them. Even in not resting with Jesus?
The greater miracle I believe that was waiting for the disciples was not witnessing Jesus calm their natural circumstances but rather their internal spirit experiencing rest despite the storm surrounding them.
