Jesus is the son of man: Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you. John 12:35

In the Gospel of John, there are several passages where Lord Jesus identifies himself as the personification of light, and as the opposite of the forces of darkness. This idea has its origin in the metaphorical identification of wisdom with light, and of sin with darkness, in the sapiential books; such us in the Book of Ecclesiastes written by King Solomon: "Wisdom is better than foolishness, just as light is better than darkness. For the wise can see where they are going, but fools walk in the dark" Ecclesiastes 2:13-14.
The knowledge that wisdom brings allows men to make better decisions in the face of uncertainty and deceptive appearances, that is, the wisdom illuminates man's reason, and thus allows men to avoid the destructive unforeseen events, the so called "stumbling rocks" of the Bible, that are typical when men walk in the darkness, in other words, when men walk in the path of sin.
And as a continuation of the sapiential teachings, this is why light and wisdom acquire a special meaning in the doctrine of the Kingdom of God, the empire or dominion of the divine perfections; wisdom and light in the teachings of Jesus are perfections whose origin is God, and man to attain salvation must seek in a literal and metaphorical sense the light and wisdom that accompany God. In the doctrine taught by Jesus, man becomes the "son of God" seeking light and wisdom, but at the same time that light and wisdom are personified in Jesus, God becomes the "son of man."
This is why, according to the Gospel of John, Jesus, after healing a man born blind and resurrecting his friend Lazarus, while he was in the city of Jerusalem anticipated his crucifixion, death, and resurrection, warning his disciples that he would only be on earth for a little while longer, identifying himself as that light that illuminates the world for its salvation, and with these words he invited his disciples to grow in faith:
"For a little while longer, the Light will be among you. Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of light" John 12:35-36.
