It was 1:00am on a Friday morning, Anita, my roommate sat by the edge of the bed, watching me, struggling and muttering words in my sleep. As she paid closer attention, she heard me saying, “Oh no, I’ve missed it, I’ve missed,” soon I was sweating all over and tears running down my cheeks. Gently but very firmly, Anita tapped me, “wake up Barbie, you are dreaming.” I sprang from my bed and held tightly to her, shaking like a leaf. Ella did not sleep with us that night. Anita held my arms. “It must have been a nightmare,” she whispered into my ears.
No Anita, it was very real and I missed it.” I replied,
“Missed what?” she asked, with a puzzled look. I pulled away from her arms, looked straight into her eyes as if looking for answers to a puzzle and then, with more tears streaming down my cheeks, I said,
“I missed the rapture.” This sounded like a bombshell to her because to me and everyone else – in the neighbourhood, the church, and the department where we studied, I was a good Christian.
Mine was a life worthy of emulation for all who cared to be closed to God. I was not only a fervent and committed Christian lady, I was also kind, loving, gentle, and generous to everyone. I had won so many sinners to the Lord. Indeed, I was known to be godly lady, bound for heaven. Even, I thought nothing less of myself until this fateful Friday, when I had this dream.
It was a first Sunday in the month of February. And being a thanksgiving day, I was elegantly dressed in my new lovely red gown. I was happy to be in church. As an usher, I warmly welcomed members and visitors as they arrived for the service and led them to the pew to be seated for the commencement of the service. A lot of activities are usually lined up for services like this. Gradually, the service progressed till it got to the climax – the time for sermon.
The Pastor took over the pulpit and after a word of prayer, the sermon began, suddenly, in the blink of an eye, some space in the pew became empty; the pastor, few leaders and members vanished. I suddenly had a strange rush of emotions, and I suddenly developed a goose pimples. Looking around I saw the surprise and questions on the faces of the congregation left in the church as though I was expected to give them answers. I screamed, “It’s the rapture, it the rapture, I’ve missed it, oh No! I’ve missed it”. At that moment, the guilt of all my unconfessed activities dawned on me and I cried bitterly. It was in the mist of those bitter tears that and lamentation that Anita woke me up.
Anita was forced to ask me why a person like me would miss the rapture. While still sobbing, I replied, where is Ella, I’ve been using her things and yours without informing you or her and I’ve always taken it for granted due to the fact that we stay together, I’m very sorry, please forgive me Anita. On hearing these words, Anita broke into tears and began to confess her wrong doings to God and asked for forgiveness. Ella worked in, Ella is my roommate too. I told her everything that had happened. We prayed fervently to God, asking his mercy. We rededicated our lives and asked for God’s grace to live up to his expectation and be ready for the rapture at all times.
As a Christian, don’t be careless with your faith to the point of allowing “it doesn’t matter” lie of the devil to influence your life.
What if this was not a dream, would you have made it?
Indeed, Jesus is coming back again.
Be conscious of RAPTURE! When Jesus comes again, where will he find you?
