Wow, @estherikott! What a terrible thing to have experienced! I am so sorry that you have had to live with the nightmares of this incident, and the feelings you must have that your life was spared when the other girl's life was not. It was very brave of you to think through this event in this detail, and put it into writing. Life is so difficult sometimes. I don't think that one ever really "gets over" something like this. It is good, and healing to be able to share the events, and also the feelings you feel about it. Sometimes a person needs help to make the feelings from the past not be in control of the present day. I hope you can find someone nearby who can help guide you through the emotional and mental healing because we are not intended to carry a burden like this alone.
