This post is an entry post for @jerrybanfield’s supernatural writing contest. A very interesting contest I must say, I think it’s very unique and it’s actually the first of its kind on steemit. For those who might be interested, here is a link to the contest post by @jerrybanfield .

Like I did say earlier on, it’s a really an interesting contest, narrating of one’s supernatural experiences, feelings, interactions etc is not something one has the opportunity of doing very often.

DID I HAVE A PAST LIFE?

Now my faith in the Christian teachings would not let me believe this as true because as a Christian I believe that it is written for man to die once and then go rest till judgement time when the good lord will judge the whole earth and it’s inhabitants and decide where each mortals would spend their eternity depending on how an individual kept to the instruction and worked in accordance to the tenents of the Almighty Jehovah God, so it’s hard and contradicting for me to believe that I had a past life but when I think hard on these experiences I can’t help but ask myself this question, could I have had a past life?

I have to state here that these experiences am no more conscious of having them and I really can’t recollect having them but they were told to me by a credible third party and just as they have no reason of lying about these happenings I have no reason to disbelieve my parents, my real biological parents that birthed me and watched me grow up so if they tell me I did and said things am about to share with you then I most certainly did and said them.
They are several of them, there is this story of my mum taking me to the market when I was about 4 years of age, I had never been to the said market before and though my mum has been buying from this market she has never known or seen the old woman that I stopped to banter with in the market on this faithful day.

This is how the story goes, I was strolling along the market hand in hand with my mum and then suddenly I stopped in my tracks and called out to an old woman I had seen in the market, I called the woman by name and she turned and looked at me confused, I let go my mums hand and went over to the old lady and started telling her things she could relate to and we ended up having a conversation like two grown ups that had known each other for years. My mum said it was shocking and a crowd of amazed spectators were beginning to gather so she, not understanding the inexplicable situation and being of the Christian faith wouldn’t even consider something like a past life, diplomatically whisked me away from there and went back straight home without getting anything we had gone to the market to get.

GRANDMA'S REINCARNATE

I never met my paternal grandmother, she died 3 years before I was born, I have seen her photos and the resemblance, in features, I have with her is striking, I heard that a lot while growing up from people that knew her too. Dad used to tell me when I was about 3-4 years I would see an item that he inherited from his parents and I would call him a tease name his mother used to call him and then I would start narrating how I got the item, and he would be confused like, “ is this the ramblings of a little girl or what is going on here.

A MERE COINCIDENCE OR A MOMENT OF MAGIC

As I grew older those episodes stopped but something strange happened when I was about 15 years of age. It was during the holidays and I had gone to visit my cousins in A buja, Abuja is the capital of Nigeria.

This was my first time in Abuja, I had gone to the park with my cousins, it’s weird what happened while there, I was having a conversation with my cousins then from the side of me I heard a name that I responded to, now that wasn’t my name but it sounded so much in my head like a name i have been answering to for years, like a sobriquet a close friend would call me.and even stranger was the fact that when I turned and looked at the girl that called to me, I seemed to recognize the voice of the caller and mouthed a name in response kind of automatically, what I mouthed out was not her name too, we just stood there looking at each other like in a trance, and then the moment passed, I told her that wasn’t my name and she said that wasn’t her name too, we all laughed about it and concluded it was a case of mistaken identity.

We became inseparable friends during that holiday period and years after that, it felt like I had known her all my life and that we had been friends even before that.

she later said it was unsettling how she felt like she connected to the name I responsed with, like she has heard it from somewhere before now, now these was a name that is very indigenous, you can even say its an ancient name because very rarely have people name their children that in these generation anymore owing to the fact that Christianity has taken over and some names are thought to have connections with deities and it’s said such names would affects the lives of people that would bear these names negatively.

Conclusion

Sometimes when I think on these happenings, it crosses my mind that there may be a past life and that I might be my grandmother’s reincarnation but that is just a thought as I don’t believe this to be true.
