- Pick a song you like.
- Learn (memorise) and be able to play the melody.
- Learn (memorise) and be able to play the chords.
- Play the song.
- Find some kind of way to improvise over the chord changes of the song.
- Play the song.
- Find another way to improvise over the chord changes of the song.
- Play the song.
- Find what you want to say on the song.
- Play the song.
- Jam, perform, record the song.
- Repeat for another song.
