My journey to learning Javascript #1: Choosing the Javascript Framework to learn

in #javascript7 years ago (edited)

So I'll be using steemit to serve as my diary or progress note on my journey to learning javascript.

So the question really is
"Why am I trying to learn javascript in the first place? "

The reason really is because I just want to build something that I can sell. I've been a designer for almost 7 years now, mainly focusing on graphics and all stuff and 2 years ago I've started learning about online marketing specifically Facebook. I had some success with marketing and have successfully been able to build a business with my girlfriend. We're offering design services for people who are selling print-on-demands merchandise via their e-commerce website and right now, I'm thinking of expanding our service, and one way to expand that is for me to know the ins and outs of or maybe the principle of programming, and thus leads me to start learning javascript.

So where am I right now in my journey?
I've been able to choose a javascript framework that I want to learn, and that is Vue JS. I'm thinking that it is simple enough for me to enjoy learning javascript. It's been 1 month now that I'm trying to learn vue JS and damn it's really hard to learn if you don't know the basics but yeah I'm still struggling and of course really doing my best to learn this.

I'll be writing some of my progress in the coming days. I'm not expecting any followers of my post, this is just me venting out my frustration and hopefully some achievement in my journey to learn javascript.

Very cool. Best of luck to you friend.

Thank you so much for those kind words :)

As an experienced JavaScript developer, it's interesting to see how beginners look at the language and which parts they struggle with. It can help me rethink the way I explain the language to others, because I've worked with it so long I often overlook things that seem obvious to me now but less experienced colleagues struggle with.

I haven't tried Vue at all yet so I'm also curious what that journey is like.

I'll be keeping an eye on your posts, good luck learning JS!

Oh wow thank you so much. Yeah I'll definitely keep you updated in my journey. But it's really hard though especially because I really came from a design background. I really don't get the exercises as to why I'm doing them. At least for now.
