Kyoto trip 🍁京都へ紅葉🍁南禅寺と鴨川

After having a really good buffet breakfast at the Rihga Royal Hotel, we took a peaceful walk along the banks of the Kamogawa river. "Kamo"means "duck" and "kawa" means "river" in Japanese. The Kamogawa is the river that flows through the center of historic Kyoto. You can still see many ducks and other river birds on the Kamogawa and many quaint restaurants and cafes overlook the river. After strolling along Pontocho, a famous, historical, narrow lane lined with bars and restaurants by the river, we headed east to the foot of the mountains to visit Nanzenji which means "South Zen Temple" . This is a big temple complex with a massive wooden gate and three famous historical Japanese gardens. We were lucky to visit in the Koyo or autumn leaf season and the gardens were stunningly beautiful with brilliant red maple leaves. After looking at the famous zen stone garden we knelt and drank matcha in a Japanese tatami room designed to look onto a waterfall immediately outside. Although there were many tourists, the gardens still felt like a magical, fairy tale places quite different to the world outside.

寒いの嫌いだけど日本のいいところは四季を
