Living with a unicorn
一角獣のいる生活

I and Yuni live in Kemono village. Yuni is the name of my unicorn. Kemono village is near Sumon mountain in the Echigo mountain range.
私とユニは毛喪野村に住んでいます。毛喪野村は越後山脈にある守門岳の近くにあります。

The location of the above image is Nezumirando village. That is an abandoned village and located a bit far from our village.
上の画像は村から少し離れた場所にある廃村です。鼠乱土村と呼ばれています。

Once upon a time, People who renounced the world gathered in Nezumirando Village, and they were indulging in meditation and so on. Nezumirando village has deep involvement with shugendo, and many Yamabushi were in that village.
昔、鼠乱土村には浮世を捨てた人々が集まって、瞑想などに耽っていたそうです。鼠乱土村は修験道と深い関わりがあり、山伏も多くその村にいました。

However, the government banned the Shugendo in 1873. Yamabushi in all the countries of Japan were forced to choose "returns to secular life" or "change one's faith". Yamabushi in Nezumirando village also gradually declined.
しかし、明治5年（1873年）に修験禁止令が出されると、日本全国の山伏たちは還俗か、宗旨替えを迫られました。鼠乱土村の山伏たちも、徐々にその数を減らしていきました。

When Yamabushi in Nezumirando village is gone -- the land may not be suitable for living a normal life -- that village has rapidly become obsolete.
鼠乱土村の山伏たちがいなくなると、その土地は普通の生活を送るのに適していないこともあり、鼠乱土村は急速に廃れていきました。

In 1949, the rocket crashed into Nezumirando village. No one lived there anymore, so There were no victims.
1949年、鼠乱土村にロケットが墜落しました。そこにはもう誰も住んでいなかったので、人的被害はありませんでした。

It is not yet known which country the rocket belonged to. The incidents of NVRC (Nezumirando village rocket crash) are considered as the greatest mystery in the history of space development.
そのロケットがどの国のものだったのかは未だ判明していません。鼠乱土村ロケット墜落事件は宇宙開発史における最大の謎とされています。

I just wrote about Nezumirando village...I will write about Kemono village where we live.
鼠乱土村のことばかり書いてきましたが……そろそろ、私達の住む毛喪野村について書きたいと思います。

Kemono village is in a small plateau in the mountains and is surrounded by four small mountains. Those located in the north are North mountain, those located in the south are South mountain, those located in the east are East mountain, and those located in the west are West mountain.
毛喪野村は山間の小さな高原にあり、四つの小山に取り囲まれています。北に位置するものは北山、南に位置するものは南山、東に位置するものは東山、西に位置するものは西山と呼ばれています。

Kemono village is known as a habitat for unicorn. It was once known as the place of production of ethers (Not Ethernet, not Ethereum. This is the material of the universe, like shining liquids like shining air), it was a long time ago. In 1654 the ether of Kemono village was exhausted. But even now, only a few ethers can be taken.
毛喪野村は一角獣の生息地として知られています。かつてはエーテル（輝き続ける空気のような液体のようなもの）の産地としても知られていましたが、それはとても昔のことです。1654年に毛喪野村のエーテルは取り尽くされました。しかし今でも、ほんの僅かなエーテルなら採ることができます。

This is a picture of mud fairy. Millet Between the our village and West mountain there is a marsh, which is there.
これは泥の妖精の画像です。毛喪野村と西山の間には湿原が広がっていて、泥の妖精はそこにいます。

In the back of West mountain there is a large mountain called Mikami mountain. It is closed to snow throughout the year.
西山の奥には三神岳という大きな山がそびえ立っています。そこは一年を通して雪に閉ざされています。

Mikami is a very mysterious mountain. There are numerous legends, the most famous is the story of the survivors of the Heike clan. It is called the Mikami Heike Legend. Someday I would like to write about that as well.
三神岳はとても神秘的な山です。数々の伝説があり、いちばん有名なのは平家の落ち武者の話です。それは三神平家伝説と呼ばれています。いつかそのことも書きたいと思います。
