You should turn off confirmation until you're synced. It will also speed up your replay by a lot if confirmation is off.

Steemアカウントに付帯しているものなので、専用のウォレットなどはないようです。
言うなればSteemアカウントがウォレットです。
ブロックチェーンエクスプローラなどもまだ存在していないので、残高確認は・・・手数料かかるけど自分に送ってみるとかでできるかな？
もしくは誰かに1 POCKET送るとか
転送すると、ここのコメントにあるように送信者と受信者の残高が表示されますので。

ここでPOCKETの作者さんがやっているように自分に送れば残高確認になるようです。
