Ikebukuro and Sunshine City
Sunshine city is a 60 floor department store with theme parks, an aquarium and a Pokémon center. Ikebukuro is a shopping district with an anime subculture.

Dinner and Drinks with Ippei
We had dinner with Ippei, Scott's friend that went to Auckland University. Ippei spoke fluent English so we talked in English.

Day 8 - 29/07/17

Shinjuku Eisa Festival - 新宿エイサー祭り
Energetic festival of a Okinawan bon dance. The festival involves chanting, drums and Sanshin instrument.

Sumidagawa Fireworks
More people than I've ever seen in one place in Tokyo. Train station and streets are completely packed. Many people dressing up in yukatas. Most of the view was blocked by trees on the riverbank though, and the other spots require a ticket for entry. It was also raining quite heavily at the time, so a pretty disappointing night overall.
