Top 3 Reasons for Japanese Women to Consort with a Foreigner (Notes from Under the Tatami Mats–36 … My Adventures in Japan)

“I was pleased to do my part to promote inter-cultural awareness.”

Burning bridges is easier than building bridges

Re #2, I probably should have explained to my girlfriend that bridge construction is a major undertaking to be carried out only by qualified experts who have degrees in civil engineering and who have plenty of relevant experience.

And I could have added that many bridges turn out to be unstable and dangerous.

Instead, I left. Then burned that bridge.     (Image source)

So, how was it?

Re #1, I walked the pleasant young lady to the genkan (front door), where she slipped on her shoes and turned to leave. Before opening the door, she turned back to me, smiled, and stated the above comment in Japanese.

I was not in any way offended, and was in fact pleased to have been able to do my part to promote inter-cultural awareness.        (Image source)

Nice one .
Are you from japan cause your english is too fluent that i doubt that.
Nice post bridging the gap

No, not from Japan. I'm Canadian. But I lived in Japan for quite a few years.

Ok
I thought as much

I'd seen this in a movie and I'd thought it was just a product of someone's imagination but I didn't know it's real.... Hmmmn

Yes, it's quite real. Sometimes too realistic!

When I first lived in Tokyo, I had SO many Japanese women approach me! I never experienced this in Korea but in Japan, it blew my mind. I was hit on by four women either 2-3 years older than me or 10-15 years older than me!

It's amazing what happens as a foreigner in another land.
