RE: Top Guitarist (Notes from Under the Tatami Mats–72 … My Adventures in Japan)

in #japan6 years ago

I find the message in this piece quite personal and even emotional. It is personal because it also tells my own story, the story of how talented people never get to make a profession out of their talents. Most times, I write for fun. I ought to be making books by now.

I find the story of Jo emotional because he never got to lit the sparkling fire of greatness in him. Although the string of his guitar still echoes in your mind, thousands and millions of people never got to listen to him.

Thanks for sharing this fine post. It is, for me, one of the best in the Tatami series.

By the way, I love the paradoxical sentence: Too bad for us listeners. But ultimately, great for us listeners.

Post resteemed.

Thanks for your message of appreciation, and for your input.

Indeed, there are many like Jo, artists who remain largely unknown and under-appreciated. I've known many of them over the years, and I have the utmost respect for them.

Always my pleasure to appreciate good works.
