If you know anime you know issekai is a hugely popular subsection in the last years ... you'd almost thinkg there must be something in japan that gives people the need for dreaming of a better world , actually if gaming was weirken here there might be plenty of that too who knows, the only studio i can think of with a name is Larian and i hope they didnt tear their panties on franchising baldurs gate (which then went for full price in early access, OUCH ?) and the guys who did Woolfe, which showed promise but felt a bit unfinished and actually havent heard anything else there

Saitou is a name in issekai more than once if memory serves tho this one doesnt seem to refer to the most recent one (which we hear nothing but praise about)

But that one runs on linux native , sadly cant find a price tag for release date (maybe looked over it) but it DOES have a demo so you can check. Its a genre that you either like or not where the thing comes down to the story mostly but japan has it more for quirks than hollywood endings, which is usually more up our ally than every movie ending with "the kiss that saves the world"

We used to mmo, founded a vanilla wow guild that others enjoyed more than we who was i b/c life happened and some others but actually ... vanilla wow was kinda nice but since EQ havent really found an mmo thats not just regurgitating the old formula with nicer gfx and a gimmick to it ... maybe "this is the one" heh :p

To us the ability to solo-play is ofcourse important and back then there seemed to be some kind of "THOU SHALT TEAM OR ELSE" wave while speaking "you can play however you want" ... for a while mortal online looked good but we lost track of that (life 'n stuff without a maid or an alfred with a catmobile, some people have it ... and then comes drukkerland)

anyway check it out, please donate your opinion so we can see if its worth checking out. Black desert caught the eye too but after about 30 minutes of play got deleted from the drive ...

Trying out the game on linux mint (latest) cinnamon it actually runs on 4k/standard - which is somewhat the best experience over all things tested by now, but the fact that a steamdeck does it great at native settings is another win.

after an hour its pretty clear the dam' thing needs extra cooling tho, a bit more and its gonna reach xbox360 critical mass like this (this is non stop on a dock running X4 foundations and unigine heaven 4.0 benchmark) with a 12cm fan behind it (ofcourse not really optimal since it just stands behind it) it still gives "a cosy warm feeling" which is great for your girlfriend next to you in bed on a cold sundaymorning but not really for your handheld device that cost almost a months money if you bought one in the current day and age. Seeing the freedom to rek theres bound to be cooler sets already that are streamlined (steamlined?) for the thing, but thats gonna set it back again, while one fan costs about €20 and heres the check : A FULL CASE (full metal pc case with FIVE FANS, 12cm LED + remote) costs

SO, seeing the benchmark scores on heaven at 2k its really hard to figure why a game like x4 lags down to sometimes 1fps on the same pc

(not gonna test steam deck custom upscale res to 4k b/c its obvious the scores gonna be lower, the game is thoroughly enjoyable at standard settings and completely playable still at high (standard 1280x720 steam deck res)

loading times seem about the same as an ssd drive on the pc (?)
The resolution is obviously a bit more jagged than it is on 4k/144Op but on ultra settings the thing doesnt drop under 22fps in space and about the same in base, setting to high adds 2-3 in base and between 5-10 in space with almost no noticeable visual difference.

Compared to 4k uhdr its ofcourse less immersive but the play quality of not having 1fps on the galaxy map sure makes a difference. That little pc Gabe decreed sure is a fucking great piece of work again.

Standard settings seem to stick over 30, so ... the reason why we got an rtx 3070 isnt very clear yet but the reason to get a steam deck becomes clearer.

The problem seems to be heat ... the killer of boards , which makes sense on a thing that small with so much circuitry and high performance silicon , tight circuitry for that matter. As we are poor and we dont have steamdeckdockcooler units we put up a 12 cm silent fan that was lying around and hope that makes some difference to the hardware , maybe a few fps and in the end what matters most for the pc : longevity heheh

gonna do some more tests but suddenly X4 on a steamdeck is more attractive than X4 on 1440p/4k on an rtx 3070

All ships stacked with crew and no one complains about that, this is not a pleasure ride, you dont have room for maybe when checking the valves and tubes and nano-hydraulics on an airlock, you dont get to forget the replace the cells and put them in the loader. Everyone just has to rely on everyone b/c one mistake is one too many and just one is enough to take out an entire crew, ... or later maybe in a chainbomb one entire fleet ...

MAN those models are massive, its like having one of those B-52s of lore following around.

compared to that the commanders space ferrari looks like a lightweight, wether the big ones are versatile enough in real combat we'll find out soon enough

Ill be glad to be back at the desk, i bet ill have my hands full enough with the plans to get a station up and running, all the credits good, all the crew is paid, no empty seats, no one complaining that they have to share b/c more checks is more safety and the captains are required to have an iron fist wrapped in velvet, the commander makes sure they understand that and most of them come from the same trashpile the rest of the crew comes, in a total meritocracy with little room for error.

Im under orders to get a new miner first. Cmdr said its best that the major factions dont perceive us as a military threat and we dont build too much armory until at least some of them on the same side of the visionary compass see us as more than "friends" and associates but true allies, only then its time to start building a real army to unite.

a one-guy project with no money versus the billions of gates and satellius ... we dub it "slightly not meh" so far and hope it continues because, you see,

On rare occasions when he gets a tip of that old Arakkian Spice, kept in the vault, illegal now i most parts of the galaxy and almost impossible to get. I doubt anyone but me and the inner circle ever get to see it, let alone have a sip. Gets all filosofical for about 15 minutes ...
