Jamaican musical genres: The Ska. 1st entry.
Hello they remind me to tell you about "El Mento", one of the tendencies or musical genres of Jamaica. Yes! What a good yupi...
Now it's the turn for "EL Ska", another genre of Jamaican music. He was born in Kingston in the early 1950s, but his fame and popularity was in the 1960s. The creation of the name "SKA" is not very clear and uncertain.
It is a combination of jazz, Latin music, swing, boogie and mento, music typical of Jamaica, derived from the music that the slaves brought when they were brought to this country. It was the direct precursor of the rocksteady and later of the reggae of which I will speak in other post.
Ska is recognized as Jamaican NATIONAL dance and music.
There is a lot to know about this musical genre, that's why this is the first entry, but before I leave a video for you to see, listen and dance.
En los próximos días la segunda entrada del Ska.
Love the energy in SKA music, never knew it was closely related to Jamaica
Not only is reggae but many trends and that is not only from Jamaica where it was born, but has come outside that country .... in the other entries you will see
