Les cuento que decidí recorrer un camino completamente desconocido para mí y es el del mundo del reggae. Sinceramente no tengo ni idea de los orígenes de ésta música, sus cantantes, historia, novedades, pero me pareció interesante aprender algo completamente nuevo y poder compartirlo y así aportar información de interés para muchos pero desde mi experiencia.

Me preguntaba cómo afrontar un mundo tan extenso y con tanta información, entonces decidí comenzar por sus orígenes y así empezó este viaje y el primer nombre que apareció fue Derrick Morgan. Ahí me estacioné y decidí escuchar su música e investigar su aporte y cuan influyente fue para éste genero.

Derrick Morgan nació en 1940 en Jamaica, participó en un famoso concurso de su época que lo impulsó para darse a conocer y convertirse en un exitoso, importante e influyente artista que le abrió paso al reggae en los 60 primero con el ska y luego con el rocksteady, una transición musical del ska al reggae.

Seguí buscando hasta que me topé con "Seven letters" al escucharla tuve que repetirla mil veces para disfrutar de tan hermosa canción, me encantó!!!!! Y sin vergüenza me desvie en este camino y entré en uno de emociones y vivencias.

Me hizo recordar a mi papá que ya no está conmigo desde hace dos años, debido a que su viaje por este mundo terrenal terminó. Mi mamá nos contaba que tenía una novia a la cual él amaba muchísimo y le encantaba fotografiar pero esta chica le rompió el corazón dejándolo por otro. Entonces me imaginé a mi papá, el cual era extremadamente callado y nunca hablaba de su vida, pasando justamente por ésta situación. Fue hermoso recordarlo y recrear tal vez lo que fue para él perder el amor de su vida.

Ésta canción de una manera, para mí divertida, describe el duelo por el que pasamos cuando un amor nos deja, quedando ese vacío que día a día se va transformando hasta que llega el momento donde terminas olvidandolo por completo, pero tal cual como lo describe la canción van pasando los días y es así, escribes cartas en tu mente o literalmente las haces como una forma de desahogarte y sacar ese tornado que invade tu pecho y no te deja respirar. Cuando realmente amas a alguien se siente un vacío que nada puede llenar, sólo el tiempo es capaz de arracarlo y liberarte.

Por causalidades de la vida al escuchar esta canción recordé este epsodio y me ví reflejada e identificada porque hace poco también me rompieron el corazón y fue algo totalmente inesperado porque para mí era un ser completamente distinto al resto de los chicos. Pero bueh, todos pasamos por ésta situación y realmente ésta canción refleja muy bien como queda el bobo enamorado luego de ver cómo el amor de su vida se va jejejeje...

El tiempo pasa pero la buena música y sus historias quedan por generaciones reconociendonos como seres sensibles amantes de lo hecho con el alma.

En fin, el trabajo de Morgan es muy extenso e interesante, se ha destacado en muchos ámbitos, cómo arreglista, compositor, productor etc... continuaré en mi investigación aún me faltan muchas canciones por escuchar, conocer sobre su magnífica carrera musical y cómo fue influenciado por el contexto social, woouu esto parece una tesis doctoral y sólo llevo una canción.
