For The Love Of My Country!

For Nigerians like myself. Especially those that had both primary and secondary school education or have ever attended any national event, you certainly should have sung the national anthem. This was usually during morning assembly. This habit of singing the national anthem everyday ingrained the lyrics in the memory of every Nigeria student.

Basically, this great song is a national call for Nigerians to serve their motherland not just passively but with love and compassion.

The anthem has a second stanza, although not as popular as the first.

The Second Stanza

Oh God of creation
Direct our noble cause
Guide our leaders right
Help our youth the truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
And live in love and truth
Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation where peace and
Justice shall reign.

This is a prayer to the creator to guild the nation, the leaders and the youths. In this respect, the blessings of the lord are prayed for so as to guild the nation towards prosperity whilst ushering an era of peace in the country.
