i-TALENT ROUND 12| INKTOBER - Day #16 "Angular" - Color Portrait Nebula of Guardians of the Galaxy
Yes, yes, I know I'm quite late in the challenge, but I've had a lot of fun in the last two drawings I've made, but the effort has its reward and I liked them very much.
In this occasion I bring you the theme of the 16th "angular", a rather imprecise subject the truth, I saw many representations of him and decided to do something crazy (as always). It turns out that a long time ago I saw some portraits that I loved, which consist of representing the face of someone through geometric figures, too cool.
So after so much thinking about who to portray, I've decided for an anti-heroine quite recurrent in galactic adventures, it's Nebula the daughter of the crazy titan and Gamora's sister, if you've seen Galaxy Guardians or Infinity War you'll know exactly who I'm talking about.
Materials:
- Opaline Cardboard (A4) 180 gr
- Mechanical pencil HB
- Prismacolor colored pencils
- Black fine point marker
-Step 1:
I started with a soft sketch, using the mechanical pencil; since this is my first portrait made with this technique, I decided to go through my comfort zone making a common sketch, to which I then added the appropriate geometric figures.
-Step 2:
Since this is the inktober, I had to add a little ink, so I have delineated the drawing completely with the fine point pen.
-Step 3:
I was not very convinced of the result, it lacked life, so I took my colored pencils and set to work with a layer of soft tones to try.
-Step 4:
Taking more confidence, I squeezed the colors a little more to achieve greater intensity between them, and as you can see, the geometric figures were not made completely at random, but I wanted to place them according to the shading I wanted to achieve.
-Step 5:
The wonderful thing about Prismacolor, is the ability to mix different tones just by painting on them. For this reason, I have used a great variety of colors on my face, from different shades of blue to black, white and a bluish violet. If you have these colored pencils, I will leave you the codes of each tone used.
-Blue: PC901, PC903, PC904, PC933, PC1027.
-White: PC9038
-Black: PC9035
-Gold: PC950
-Mulberry: PC995
What is inktober?
The inktober is an initiative created by the illustrator Jake Parker in 2009, in order to improve his artistic skills, although over the years has made a great impact on the international artistic community. The challenge is to make a drawing with ink every day, hence its name, "ink" (ink) "tober" (October), although for the most part this is respected, many other artists prefer to stay in their comfort zone, so you can see illustrations made with watercolors, graphite, charcoal, digital and any existing technique.
