RE: Italent contest Round 5 entry “Owl 🦉 Portrait” timelapse video painting from start to finish
That made me smile! What a majestic animal. I like it when you were petting the owl, its seem to really enjoy it! 🙏🏻 thanks for sharing
Ahh she loves a good petting.
she was rescued from a neglected life and she is much happier where she is now.
Plenty more to come of her erry.
Cheers buddy. :)
@jeffandhisguitar or should I say @jeffandhisowl in this case :)
That is one amazing creature right there :) are you volunteering or living full time in Cambodia?
Dam I wish I knew the owl before I signed up to Steemit.
That would of been my name Ivan :)
I live here man. 3 years now :D
It's cheap to live and the sun always shines.
A far cry from England buddy.
I just made a post on my apartment If y have time to view it :)
@jeffandhisguitar Oh that is great mate, I've been thinking of doing the same, I've been to Thailand already and lived there 2 months vacating a bit, I'm curious about how the residency works in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos, most southeast is touch and go concerning that, maybe you can shine some light on that subject, online info is great and all, but first hand is the way to go
Sure man. If you have had a taste of Asia, the taste buds never stop tingling.
Things are so different here to where I'm from. Nobody cares.. lol
All I can say is that if you have a skill that you can teach someone, then you will find work. Simple as that.
The visa rules here are pretty laid back compared to other countries. Money talk as usual.
There are two visas you can apply for upon entry.
1 is a tourist visa which is valid for a month and the other is an business visa which you can extend.
I came here clueless and my mate said get a buisness visa so I ticked the box on the aeroplane and here I am.. lol
For a buisness visa you can pay for 3, 6 or a 12 month stay, but new laws require you to have a letter from a place of work.
So you could come here for a month on a tourist and find some employment in teaching or music, or whatever it is your passsionate about, and extend when the month runs out.
There are seperate visas for self employed persons which are common these days due to digital workers, but it's pretty straightforward if you have the cash.
A buisness visa costs an average $30 per month, but gets a bit cheaper the longer you stay..
I have extended mine last month for 6 months at a cost of $175.
Sunshine every day man and am free as a bird :D
Hope this helps.
The hardest thing is booking that one way ticket away from your comfort zone.
But once you do... there is no going back.
Cheers Ivan
Amazing info @jeffandhisguitar, yes it helps a ton. I was curious about the part of extending the visa by paying, now when you put it that way I can see why most of the SE Asian countries have dropped to one month for tourist visa while it was 3 months before, so they can have more visa revenue, which makes sense of course.
The part about business visa is a great idea, if I find a spot to settle in I will look into it :) Have you been visiting any adjacent countries as well, or do you like it the most in Cambodia?
The good part about living here is that a few hours flight will land you in greatness. I have explored the coast of Cambo and spent a month in Sumatra Indonesia but have yet to venture to Vietnam or Thailand yet.
It is on the cards but musicians wages are thrifty and now I have a bloody cat to look after.
But will be making some plans towards the end of the year hopefully.
I don't like it here much to be honest. The novelty has worn off and it's too hectic.
They are 10 years behind here so it's hard to get things done the right way.
The weather, cheap rent and the loneliness is nice man.
I do not have to answer to anyone and I can put time into my steemit and music :D
Currently establishing myself for the next chapter :D
@jeffandhisguitar Yeah, that is the nice part, having the freedom that is so hard to meet back in the west. Did you have any thoughts about moving to places like Bali, Boracay or Koh Samui? They are almost as cheap, and as sunny and very near you. I really like the vid, is this open G tuning, been wanting to do some music in an open tuning just yesterday :)
