Lauryn Hill, in origine Lauryn Noelle Hill nasce il 1975 nel New Jersey.
Inizia la sua carriera facendo l'attrice invari telefilm come Sister Act 2 dove interpreta il ruolo di una studentessa con l'amore per il canto , facendo così notare la sua bravura, successivamente recita in Così gira il mondo.
Conosce e sposa Rohan Marley , figlio di Bob con cui ha 5 figli.
Conosce Pras Michel e Wyclef Jean con la quale forma i "The Fugees" , il gruppo ha tendenze Soul-HipHop e Funk, raggiunge il successo con l'album "The Score" vendendo 18 milioni di dischi.
Dopo il successo clamoroso del disco il gruppo si separa decidendo di intraprendere la carriera da solisti.
Nel 1998 pubblica il suo primo album da solista chiamato "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" riuscendo a vendere ancora una volta più di 18 milioni di copie.
Fra le bellissime tracce contenute in quell'album possiamo ricordare "Ex-factor" , "Doo-wop" e "Lost one" "To Zion" dedicata al primogenito.
Ottiene 5 Grammi e 11 nomination.
Nel 2002 pubblica "MTV Unplugged No 2.0" , un album registrato live negli studi di Mtv..
Nel 2004 i Fugees si riuniscono producendo l'album "Take it easy" , non riscontrano un grande successo ma comunque riescono ad organizzare diversi concerti.
Torna a cantare nel 2010 con il singolo "Repercussion" che gli ha permesso di girare in tour per l'America.
Nel 2012 viene arrestata per evasione fiscale e nel 2013 torna con un nuovo singolo chiamato "Neurotic Siciety".
L'ultime sue opere sono del 2015 , si tratta di cinque brani per il documentario dedicato a Nina Simone, una famosissima attivista e cantate.
Lauryn Hill è una delle voci più belle e calde che il mondo abbia potuto conoscere per la sua natura Soul e il flow inconfondibile dei quartieri americani.
