é sempre piacevole tornare nella bella Verona!
La mia ultima visita alla città, risale al mese di maggio di quest'anno.
Probabilmente molti di voi ci saranno già stati, ma in ogni caso vi farò fare un piccolo giretto virtuale.
Come penso tutti saprete, Verona è famosa per l'Arena, un antico anfiteatro romano, sede nell'antichità di lotte tra gladiatori; oggi adibito a concerti e spettacoli di vario tipo.

It is always pleasant to come back to the beautiful Verona!
My last visit to the city dates back to May this year.
Probably many of you have already been there, but in any case I will make you do a little virtual ride.
As I think you all know, Verona is famous for the Arena, an ancient Roman amphitheater, home to gladiator fights in antiquity; today used for concerts and shows of various kinds.

Un'altra attrazione molto importante di Verona, è il balcone di Romeo e Giulietta, personaggi immortali della tragedia di William Shakespeare.

Il passaggio di ingresso che reca al celebre balcone, è totalmente ricoperto da scritte e messaggi di amore.

Le case dei Capuleti, non si trovavano qui, ma nei pressi dell'argine del fiume Adige.
Nel primo Novecento, a causa di esondazioni del fiume, vennero demolite alcune abitazioni medievali, perché impedivano la ricostruzione di nuovi argini.
Da queste rovine, venne salvato un piccolo balcone d'epoca gotica; ed il direttore dei musei civici allora in carica, lo fece posizionare nel cortile dov'è tutt'ora locato.
Nacque così il balcone di Romeo e Giulietta, e tutta la leggenda che ne milita attorno.

The houses of the Capulets were not found here, but near the embankment of the river Adige.
In the early twentieth century, due to flooding the river, some medieval houses were demolished, because they prevented the reconstruction of new banks.
From these ruins, a small balcony of the Gothic era was saved; and the director of the civic museums then in charge, had it placed in the courtyard where it is still rented.
Thus was born the balcony of Romeo and Juliet, and all the legend that militates around it.
