The Italian North League and why it became so popular in the South (TBOTWATPSII: Chapter 1) ENG/ITA.

What I am about to write is an absolutely personal and deliberately superficial analysis of the phenomenon.

I discovered the existence of the League in the last years of elementary school.

They were those of the free Padania (A very bad name for a fictional indipendent North Italy), of the Viking horns, of Federico Barbarossa as well as authors of the most beautiful slogan of all time: 

"The League got it hard" (Umberto Bossi,  founder of the party; 1991).

For the rest during the years of my adolescence it was mostly something to laugh about.

He is in the European Parliament. 

For the uninitiated, the Northern League was born in the early nineties as a fusion of five independent parties, and its primary purpose was, precisely, the secession of northern Italy from the rest of the country.

Their main enemy was the Italian State, whose capital, Rome, was often depicted as a place of corruption and decadence, "thieving Rome" accused of exploiting the industrialized north to maintain a southern Italy populated by backward, lazy and dishonest individuals .

In fact, these were the main targets of the early league: the southerners ("terroni"), our fellow countrymen from the south who came up north looking for a job .

In short, it was a xenophobic party with separatist aims.

Today the League is the first party of Italy, with 34.26%, with the current leader, Matteo Salvini, who is literally experiencing a huge peak of popularity, practically a rock star.

I remember the first time I heard of him.

He was a comedian on television doing it, and the opening was: "Salvini? And who the fuck is Salvini, but above all, why he always wears sweatshirts with Milan written on it, to remember himself where he lives?"

Here, today that same guy fills the squares.

And wins, he wins (almost) everywhere

 But not only in northern Italy, but also in the southern part of the country. The one his contry used to say  that it was populated by mafia and dishonest, by lazy people, by "shitty terronies".

What has changed? What led a party that over the years has gone from the center right to the extreme right, allied with parties of clear fascist inspiration, to be the first political entity in our country?

Someone could indicate the very "social" turning point in communication, someone else having exploited the past economic crisis and the austerity norms deriving from it, blaming the governments of the lower left that succeeded the technical commissioner in 2012.

(side note, the crisis that led to the technical government and the rules of auterity was caused by the Belusconi's government, with the league itself as an ally).

In my opinion it was none of this.

Today the league is an ultranationalist party, which says it is proud of its "Jewish-Christian roots", against uncontrolled immigration and the suffocating rules imposed by Masonic tyrants and corrupt European plutocrats.

Many things seem to have changed compared to the origins.

But they are not.

The methods have changed, the faces have changed, and above all the programs have changed.

The truth is that they have not changed anything. They just expanded their game.

What the "terroni" were, today are the immigrants from the barges, who just like the terroni thirty years ago, come here to commit crime and steal jobs.

What was the Italian State that oppresses the north, today is Europe that debases Italy.

All they have done is transform the  League from a regional entity with national enemies, to a national party with international enemies.

They have broadened their horizons, and in doing so they have expanded their pool of voters.

The vilified inhabitants of southern Italy, suddenly found themselves proudly Italian and proudly Northern League's voters, but simply because they were taught the simple notion that there is always someone further south of them. 

And that "someone" is coming to steal their job.

Quello che sto per scrivere è un analisi assolutamente personale e volutamente superficiale del fenomeno.

Scoprii l'esistenza della lega negli ultimi anni delle elementari.

nonostante fosse risaputo che avessero una discreta popolarità in certi luoghi, erano per lo più famosi per essere gente che metteva giu manifesti di questo tipo.

Simpatici eh?

Erano quelli della Padania libera, delle corna da vichingo, di federico Barbarossa nonchè autori del più bello slogan di tutti i tempi: "La Lega ce l'ha duro" (umberto bossi, 1991).

Per il resto durante gli anni della mia adolescenza fu perlopiù un qualcosa di cui ridere.

Qualcosa su cui ridere. E' un europarlamentare.

 Per chi non lo sapesse, la Lega Nord nasce all'inizio degli anni novanta come fusione di 5 partiti indipendentisti, e il suo scopo primario era, appunto, la seccessione del nord italia dal resto dello stivale.

Il loro principale nemico era lo Stato Italiano, la cui capitale, Roma, veniva spesso dipinta come un luogo di corruzione e decadenza, "Roma ladrona" accusata di sfruttare l'industrializzato nord per mantenere un sud italia popolato di individui arretrati, pigri e disonesti.

Erano questi ultimi infatti, i principali bersagli della lega dei primi tempi: i terroni, i nostri connazionali del sud che salivano al nord per cercare lavoro.

Era, per farla breve, un centrodestra xenofobo con mire separatiste.

Oggi la Lega è il primo partito d'italia, con il 34,26%, con l'attuale leader, Matteo Salvini, che sta letteralmente vivendo un picco di popolarita immenso, praticamente una rockstar.

Mi ricordo la prima volta che sentii parlar di lui.

Fu un comico in televisione a farlo, e l'apertura fu: "Salvini? e chi cazzo è sto Salvini, ma soprattutto perchè indossa sempre felpe con su scritto Milano, per ricordarsi dove abita?"

Ecco, oggi quello stesso tizio riempie le piazze. 

E vince, vince (quasi) ovunque

 Ma non solo nel nord italia, ma anche anche nel vilipeso sud. Quello Popolato da mafiosi e disonesti, da pigri, da "terroni di merda".

Questa è la basilicata. Profondo sud.

Cosa è cambiato? Cosa ha portato un partito che negli anni è passato dal centro destra alla destra estrema, alleata di partiti di chiara ispirazione fascista, ad essere il primo partito nel nostro paese?

Qualcuno potrebbe indicare la svolta molto "social", nella comunicazione, qualcun altro l'aver sfruttato la passata crisi economica e le norme di austerity derivanti da essa dando la colpa ai governi di sx moderata che succedettero al commissariamento tecnico del 2012. 

(piccolo appunto, la crisi che portù al governp tecnico e alle norme di auterity fu causata dal governo Belusconi, con la lega stessa come alleata).

Secondo me non fu niente di tutto questo.

Oggi la lega è un partito ultranazionalista, che si dice fiero delle proprie radici giudaico cristiane, contro l'immigrazione incontrollata e le norme soffocanti imposte dai tiranni massonici e dai plutocrati corrotti dell'Europa.

Sembrano cambiate tante cose rispetto alle origini.

E invece no.

Sono cambiati i metodi, sono cambiati i volti, e soprattutto sono cambiati i programmi.

Ma in verità non hanno cambiato nulla. Hanno solo ampliato il loro gioco.

Quello che furono i "terroni", oggi sono gli immigrati dai barconi, che proprio come i terroni trent'anni f, vengono qua a delinquere e a rubarci il lavoro.

Quello che fu lo Stato Italiano che opprime il nord, oggi è L'Europa che svilisce l'italia.

Tutto quello che hanno fatto è trasformare la Lega da partito regionale con un nemico intranazionale, ad un partito nazionale con un nemico internazionale.

Hanno ampliato i loro orizzonti, e così facendo hanno ampliato il loro pool di elettori.

I vilipesi abitanti del su italia, all'improvvisio si sono ritrovati ad essere orgogliosamente italiani ed orgogliosamente leghisti, ma semplicemente perchè è stato inculcato loro la semplice nozione, che c'è sempre qualcuno più a sud di loro. E che quel qualcuno sta arrivando a rubargli il lavoro.
