Children and young people have discovered the ins and outs of remote study more than ever due to quarantine. The teachers are no longer present to tell them schedules and homework daily and in person. He no longer studies at school, but at home. But how does this unforeseen and novel situation affect children and young people? Perhaps we can be surprised that this turn can motivate and positively affect children who are not characterized as good students. “The human being has an inexhaustible adaptation potential, and children, more specifically, give us the capacity for effort and improvement every day.

Far from falling into tension with the children when they study at home during quarantine and letting ourselves be carried away by the concern and responsibility of assuming the role of absent teachers, it is convenient to focus on that “the motivation to learn is possible. This situation of almost absolute confinement in which we have lived for a few weeks, can be a great opportunity to reinvent ourselves and rediscover new forms of access to knowledge, "adds Moreno, who provides several recommendations for children and young people studying from home during quarantine as :

1.- Follow a daily routine, relatively structured, but also flexible. You can combine work time and rest that are associated with family leisure activities.
2.-Discover that learning not only resides in books and mechanically carry out school tasks, but that there are other options, such as reading workshops, painting or virtual physical group activities, such as yoga or pilates.
3.-Reduce the pressure we impose on children to fulfill all the duties they send to teachers, as well as the need to follow the daily work plan by subject. The circumstances and context in which learning takes place at home and at school are different. The requirements may be different and the tasks more dynamic.
4.-Create a pleasant environment to study at home; well ventilated and without noise. Avoid excessive use of devices such as mobile phones or tablets. The misuse of new technologies does not promote learning and can produce an inner state of agitation and excitement that damages our attention span and long-term memory.
5.-Have adequate routines regarding sleep schedules. To maintain mental well-being, it is advisable to practice with the children a time to do some brief and simple practice or relaxation exercises.
6.-Establish positive, trustworthy and helpful communication between teachers, parents and students to offer resources that create a dynamic based, not so much on the result, as can happen at school with the evaluations, but on the process and the interest in learning new things It is a good opportunity to develop skills and attitudes such as empathy, self-esteem, dialogue and overcoming adverse situations.
