NEW IT vs old IT

in #it7 years ago (edited)

I have to start out by saying Stephen Kings It is my all time favorite horror book. I will base a lot of my feelings on the films from the overall book experience. With that being said, I personally think the newest movie is by far superior. I was taken back at first that the new movie was based in the 80s instead of the 50s like the book but I understand they had to make it more relatable. I feel like other than that it holds true to the book. The dialouge is well written and it is a good balance of comedy one minute and horror the next. Truly making for a overall enjoyable movie watching experience.

Now for the older It movie. Where to begin? I know a lot of people who are horrified by the older movie but I feel it was timing as they were all children when it first came out. Other than that I think it is a terrible adaptation of the book. They make character and story changes for absolutely no reason. Also, in terms of cost it was very low budget and a made for TV mini series.

I could go on and on but would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on the topic! Please up vote and comment. Thanks for reading!

I must say I liked the first IT movie alot, as I watched it in my childhood, however I must agree with you the new IT is far superior, and is alot more creepy.
Looking forward to the remake of Needfull Things.

Oh wow I didn't know they were doing a remake of Needful Things. I will have to look into that. There is a treasure trove of Stephen King movies they should and most likely remake. It seems like most horror movies are so predictable but his books/movies are the epitome of what horror should be in my opinion.
