With the advent of the internet, 2 decades ago, it was not predicted or thought that it is going to influence our lives on such a massive scale that our day and nights will not be completed without the use of internet. Now, we look towards the internet for all our needs like if we want to shop online, or want to communicate with our loved ones or for business purposes, or if we want to know anything anywhere in the world.

To perform all the above stated tasks, we always need a platform which helps us in performing these tasks easily and efficiently. These platforms are known as the “Search Engines”. This is the place where we get our desired results even by typing a single word and these are in plenty these days. The most famous of the lot are Google, Bing, Yahoo, Baidu, AOL and etc. The competition among them is transforming the ways of our search. There are so many advantages of having so many search engines and the competition among them and these are as follows:
1- As even the biggest search engine in the world, does not have the access in many countries of Asia, so the people of these countries use the other search engines for their needs, which is making their lives more and more prosperous in terms of money as well as social engagements.
2- The competition among the search engines prohibits any one search engine from abusing this power or exploiting the people for its own benefits.
3- The competition among the search engines increases the quality of the content available on these platforms as the management knows that if they will not provide the users with the best content available, then the user will turn to the other engines having much better content available. This weakness not only makes a big dent in their revenues but also their good will is distorted in the market and among the users.
4- The competition also pushes these platforms to make more innovations in their services and offer more and diversified services and contents on their engines. This also urges them to make their engines more and more user friendly and more efficient and precision so that more and more users use their platforms for their needs.
5- The search engines remain free due to the competition among the search engines. If there could have been a monopoly of a single search engine, the users could have to pay the money for using the search engines and it could have limited the benefits of the internet to a small ratio of the world’s population.
These all stated above are some of the benefits due to the competition prevailing among the search engines and this competition is making the world better day by day and there seems no any worse consequences of this competition on the world economy or society. These search engines are making the world economy strong by investing and acquiring different industries and expanding their businesses which in return is giving employment to the people and bringing prosperity to the developed and as well as the under developed regions.
