Snake Envenomation: Mythomania

in #irsyesterday

The Evil Powers-That-Be have added a new nipple twist to their greedy, slimy tentacles.

For 40 years minus one, I was forced to pay into their income taxes, Medicare, and Social Security Ponzi schemes against my will. In 2015, I was severely punished because I couldn't afford to put out one year (1998) as I used all of my money to save my son Jonathon's life. The feds stole my retirement funds, and my ex-wife Angie (Queen Cersei) absconded with all of my possessions and our 3 children. After my multiple muggings in Nicaragua over the Thanksgiving holiday in 2013, I became disabled. Eventually, I received SSDI and was forced into Medicare, which is the worst healthcare policy in the world.

2024 is the first year that the feds consider any "help" with my medical expenses as income. In other words, every time I get a prescription, see a provider, or get hospitalized, they add that as "income". So now I have to pay taxes on taxes I already paid.

Chapter 1
Snake Envenomation
It is a three-hour drive from where we were living in West Bend, Wisconsin to Black River Falls. My passion is working in medically underserved areas, so the length of the drive meant little to me compared to the satisfaction of serving and serving.
Fifteen minutes before 8 o’clock that warm Spring morning, I pulled the Grand Am into the parking lot, turned off the engine, grabbed my duffel bag, and headed into the hospital.
I walked into the ER and announced my presence to the nurses and the doc I was replacing. He said that there weren’t any patients currently, so I went to the call room to change. The call room at Black River Memorial Hospital is next to the doctor’s lounge. I dressed in my scrubs, grabbed a cup of coffee, and sat down on a couch in the lounge to drink it. At 8:30 am the E.R. nurse called and said that I had a patient with a fever who was ready for me. I went to the Emergency Department, evaluated the patient, and ordered a Complete Blood Count (CBC). During the exam, an overhead page announced that there was someone in the doctor’s lounge who wanted to see me. When I was done with my examination and after I wrote the order for the CBC, I headed there, curious about my visitor.
I opened the door to the doctor’s lounge and there were two men in black waiting for me. One was skinny and quiet. The other was nerdy looking, with a smarmy expression on his face. He was of medium build and looked like a snake ready to strike. He also did most of the talking.
“Doctor Mangold?” he asked.
“I am. Can I help you?”
“Yes,” replied Mr. Smarmy Nerd, pulling out a flashy police-like badge. “I’m special agent Brandon Bielke with the Criminal Division of the Internal Revenue Service. I want to talk to you.”
…Interesting development. For this book revision, I looked up the verbal assault by Meghan Dwyer of Fox6 News WITI Milwaukee on Thursday, May 22, 2014, my sentencing day. The narrative has been almost completely changed. Unfortunately for them, I have an eidetic memory. I also saw the original clip. The newest one is redacted. This is a snippet of their revision, with the truth in italics:
Bryan Polcyn (the Talking Head): “Federal authorities say Mangold was anything but shy when it came to not paying his taxes”.

Dr. Mangold: "It's all very complicated. You know, it took the government 16 years to come down on this."

Meghan Dwyer: "Why do you think that was?"

Dr. Mangold: "Because it's so complicated."
Her implication was that I used complicated tactics to hide money from the gubment. What I meant was that the fed’s case against me was so misguided and misdirected that it was complicated FOR THEM.
Bryan Polcyn: “Mangold has been working at local hospitals, emergency rooms and urgent care centers since 1993. Federal authorities say from 1997 to 2007, he hid his wages from the IRS -- sometimes reporting zero income, even though he was bringing home a six-figure salary”.
I reported income every year except 1998 when I could not pay. Note the “Federal authorities say...” part. Dwyer didn’t do her homework, which is a journalistic Bozo No-No. All she had to do was ask the IRS for my tax statements. I have paid taxes for 50 years now, and never cheated on them. The “reporting zero income” was my vain attempt at retrieving some of the back taxes I paid. There is a federally approved alternative to the 1040 that allows a resident to do this. I realize now that it is a trap. Also, note “bringing home a six-figure salary”. That’s as vague and misleading as it comes. It is deliberate misdirection and misinformation. “Six figures” could be anywhere from $100,000 to $999,999. I made over $99,999 only once in my life, yet “bringing home” implies that it was an ongoing occurrence. Fox6 once again failed Journalism 101. The charge against me was tax evasion from1998 alone. What happened to 1972-1997 and 1999-2007?

Meghan Dwyer: "Can you tell me why you decided to lie about your income?" Does anyone else see the bias in her choice of words?

Dr. Mangold: "Oh, I didn't lie about my income." Never did, never will.

Meghan Dwyer: "But you pleaded guilty today."

Dr. Mangold: "Yeah. Right. I did." There is only one reason I pled guilty, and that was to protect my mom and brother from further harassment by the IRS. Yet Dwyer cut me off and wouldn’t let me explain. This narrative makes me look stupid (“Yeah. Right. I did.”). I’m not stupid.

Talking Head: At one point, federal investigators say Mangold owed the IRS almost $200,000 in taxes and interest.
Fox6 “news” cites the federal thugs instead of doing its homework. I NEVER owed them $200,000 in back taxes. The most I owed was $8000 from 1998. Even that figure is too high because it is the IRS’ determination, not mine. I never got a chance to take legitimate tax breaks, including the generous amount of charitable donations and work I did. I had the Medicine Cabinet, and I was the Medical Director with St. Matthew’s mission trip to Mexico that year and could have written off all my travel expenses. Once the IRS starts a criminal investigation, we peasants are unable to refile. I do owe for my medical school student loans though, which I am paying off even now because the IRS takes it out of my monthly SSDI deposits. Perhaps Maggie included those in her “$200,000” lie.
