Running From Irma...Learned from Sandy
This is my first post. My wife and kids ran north to NY while I stayed back for work. All the reports over the previous few days showed Irma not coming near us enough to panic. Well over the last day and now we are directly in the cross hairs. Reports are saying it will go back to Cat 5 due to the warmer waters and the eye being stronger.
I left last night and was able to get the only room left in Mississippi. It took me 12 hours to get here. I loaded up what I could that was important and ran like hell. I was able to find gas just in time to make it to areas where gas was not in short supply.
We have a lot of friends who stayed behind so keep them in your thoughts. A Cat 4 or 5 is no joke.
We lost everything in Sandy and it looks like this might happen again. The thought of that makes me sick.
I'll be watching it from a bar and try and not cry too much.
