Florida "dodged a bullet"...

As the title says, Florida "dodged a bullet" in regards to hurricane Irma. My family and I came through relatively unscathed: without power for 20 hours. And, poor us (tongue-in-cheek), Internet only just came back on. Which is why I have been absent for a while. It is certain that other parts of the state got hit harder than we did, but it was nothing like what the "doom-and-gloomers" were predicting.

I had a gut-feeling this storm would be relatively harmless for us here, and I am thankful it was so. On the other hand, my heart goes out to the people of Cuba and the Virgin Islands who didn't fare as well as we did here in Florida.

I can say that in the run up to the storm hitting, the (bottled) water and gasoline companies made out like bandits...particularly the gas companies... It didn't go so far as to be called price-gouging, but it wasn't far off. In the week leading up to landfall being made, I noticed about a 25% rise in prices everywhere, AND most gas stations had run out of supply.

Enough rambling - we are okay, and I will get back to working on projects for steemit. :)

Take care all!
