Carrickfergus: the lantern and St Nicholas' Church
Carrickfergus is a medieval town that's been almost lost to post-1960s development. Here and there there are glimpses of history. There's the famous castle of course (over my shoulder when I took this photograph). And here is a view past the restored lantern which marks the old marketplace, uphill towards the gatehouse and spire of St Nicholas' church. The shop buildings are Victorian townhouses which have somehow survived the developers!
