After winning the toss Kxlp opted to field first. Mi started really well with Rohit looking in top form an umpiring error sent him packing- although he did missed out on challenging it as it was clearly missing leg. Quiton de kock made a fine fifty but didn't stay long enough to take away match from Kxlp. Pollard and yuvraj struggled to time a ball as they both fell down very cheaply. In the end it was hardik pandya again who played a blunder to take MI to a respectable total of 176 runs.

Chasing begun with cautious note as both the openers see off the new ball from bumrah and malinga. After powerplay gayel up the ante and hit 2 sixes off pandya' bowling to speed up the things for punjab. Krunal pandya got better of Gayel as he got out after making 40 runs off 24 balls. Mayank came in and straight away took the pressure off from rahul as he was very slow at other end. He played a superb innings of 43 runs off just 21 runs. This innings from mayank not only removed the pressure from rahul but also he got a valuable time to settle in and got in to form. Mayank got out off krunal again and this time rahul got in to action as he played superb shots all over the ground and his knock of 71 helped punjab to get over the line by 8 balls to spare.
