IoTChain - Securing the future of IoT devices.

This article is going to be more a look into the ways in which you can stay up-to date with the project, assuming you read my previous article which went into detail on what IoTchain is, and what they're planning on doing, and why. If you didn't, here's a brief summary of what the project are aiming to achieve.

In the modern age, nearly every appliance in your home has the ability to connect out to the internet in some way or another, for example there are fridges that can send you an alert when you're low on milk. Your heating can be controlled from a mobile app so you can make the house the perfect temperature when you leave work, allowing it to heat up for when you get in. These are known as 'IoT' devices, don't know what that mean? 'IoT' by definition refers to everything that is connected to the internet and is short for 'Internet Of things'

Now, although this sounds amazing, it does bring with it the security risks associated with having your entire house connected to the network, your appliances can connect out, but that also means that they can be used as a possible point of entry into your network by malicious users. Case in point, it was recently in the news that a Las Vegas Casino was hacked via a fish tank in the lobby, this led to the database of high-roller gamblers being stolen through the thermostat. As you can see, there is a need for a way in which these IoT devices can be secured, and ensure events like above cannot happen. This is where IoTChain come in, using their blockchain project to form the basis of the security platform, and then integrating the IoTDevices via a secure operating system they are essentially combining these two technologies to provide a solution that bridges the blockchain world and the IoT device world into a single secure point of access, that allows the IoTdevices to easily connect to the internet and other IoTdevices, but prevents unauthorised access to and from those devices. I think a light weight of IoTChain operating system, it's simplicity and non-obedience to redundant features is the main secret of ITC to be secured. The simpler system is - the stronger it is to different possible attacks.

I've read from their recent updates that the lite client is already working so its going to be interesting to watch and see how well the smaller super lite devices handle the software in real world

I think the progress of microelectronics already lets us use complicated computational logic even in such small devices as thermal sensor or smart counter.

Not bad did they announce which devices are using it? I asked earlier if there are partners to start adopting it initially as in production ready or not.

I have not seen any of such announcement.. Maybe i will check their twitter or medium channel.

yeah, simplicity is very important they understand that and i believe they are taking advantage of that

The current blockchain runs on a lot of weight, a lot of blocks needed to achieve consensus, so it completely makes a lot of sense to build a lite weight system

I think it is light because it is just going to focus on IoT security.

I doubt that. I think it's actually because a lesser amount of blocks will be required to to achieve consensus instead the initial amount used in the current one.

Your opinion on the way to stay up to date with icos is actually an idea that I think is cool. I agree with you on that.

Telegram is the best way to get info on any project you have an interest for. I always visit ITC telegram group to get updated.

I agree, but IoT team also providing weekly updates for their followers and investors. This way we come to know about project status and future plans

I do not know if I really want to see all the home appliances on the net, but with ITC as Iot-Network, I'm less worried

It is very possible for your fridge to be hacked, sounds silly - but in reality it is possible.

Lol, that got me laughing but in a world that IoT is trying to create, a lot of things will be connected, so its possible and that's why we need ITC

Sounds funny but really isn't hacking doesnt mean that they steal information from your fridge, but they could hack it and use it as part of say a DDOS attack like what happened last year with iot devices.

This is true, it gives an endpoint to hackers to attack thus potentially bringing down the network within your home. Also if they do manage to get into a smart device such as a fridge, they will be internal on the network which also gives them another point to attack from on more internal devices.

We all need protection from hackers, IoT technology isn't very secure.

I don't want my ice cream to be hacked mate. It would be funny though setting a firewall for you fridge.

They already exist your seeing internet connected fridges for all kinds of stuff and features, so you can bet theirs a firewall on it
