IOTA on German Television [Video] | Dominik Schiener | Markus Lanz | 20.03.2018

On March 20th the Co-Founder of IOTA Dominik Schiener was on the well-known German Television talk show named “Markus Lanz”. The show was viewed by 1.42 million people and is now available on their online platform [1]. Through his appearance, IOTA and Blockchain have been presented to a large audience, with no crypto- economic background, and it's another puzzle to further the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies.

Dominik is talking about his early life, his background as programmer and business "man".He was just 13 to 14 years old as he began selling his talent on the internet. He tells a story about his early hacker life in which he hacked the game Call of Duty and placed himself on the first place of the world list. Another interesting point he tells is, how he paid his debts by selling his first small company to an Iranian business man.
Later he shortly talks about how Blockchain-Technology works and how it tries to change trust. This is a very important issue, because trust is highlighted as one of the main reasons why Blockchain exists. Our currently economic system is just working with the trust of people on systems.

We trust e.g. that another person knows the value of a paper sheet on which a dollar or euro sign is printed on and accepts it as a mean of payment.

Dominik explains that it is the turn of cryptocurrencies to build trust among people.
At the end he gives a short review how teambuilding in crypto space works and how he and his cofounders started to work on IOTA. Not going into much detail, he explains what problems IOTA tries to face and in which way it wants to solve them. He explains that the technology should work as a catalysator for new innovations and underlines the demand of the industries by emphasizing the cooperation with Volkswagen AG. He underlines that IOTA is a non-profit organization only focusing on the benefits of IOTA’s technology for mankind.
