Vodafone becomes a provider of the Internet of Things
Finding lost luggage with your smartphone or keeping an eye on your own home on the go: Vodafone now offers the first products for the Internet of Things.
In the future, Vodafone will also open up the growth market of the Internet of Things to private users. Since Tuesday, the Group has been offering the first four products with a special sim card. It is about recovering lost luggage via smartphone, locating the dog at any time, or being able to keep track of your own home on the go via a camera.
Internet of Things: Vodafone addresses private customers
"Hardly any other market is developing as dynamically as the IoT market. Vodafone network already has almost 60 million devices, machines, and vehicles worldwide. The new "V by Vodafone" offer is now targeted at private customers with its smart services.
For the solutions, the company works together with third-party manufacturers and summarizes them on its own platform. These include a GPS tracker for pets of the manufacturer Kippy, or "V-Bag" manufacturer TLC for the location of luggage or the satchel of the child. If the items leave a defined area, the smartphone sounds the alarm.
The "V-Camera" by Netgear allows the monitoring of the home or motorhome on the road. When moving, the camera starts and stores the images in the cloud. Also for the car is a corresponding module in the program. All solutions can be used and managed via an app from Vodafone.
