Are Li-Ion Batteries true successor of Bitcoin ? !! - Part 1

in #investment6 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians,

I was going through an article about Clean Energy yesterday and I was astounded to know how much potential this sector has. I feel Clean Energy is at the same stage, bitcoin was in 2009 and this sector has the potential to make you a millionaire. Since I have a lot of information to share with you, I will be breaking this article into two parts. In the first part I will discuss the importance & potential of Clean Energy and the electric vehicles and in the second part, I will inform you about the importance of investment in Lithium-ion battery metals. Here is what I think...

a22.jpg

Earth is moving towards an era of Clean Energy as every year 5 million people are dying because of air pollution. We are witnessing record high temperatures and global warming has started to threaten our health, basic needs and existence.

The large share of air pollution is caused by the combustion of coal and oil. Many countries have now started clean Energy initiatives to cut down carbon emission from coal by adopting wind, hydro and solar energy infrastructure but nothing significant has been done to reduce the carbon emitted by automobiles which collectively cause 75 % of carbon monoxide pollution. The percentage of air pollution caused by cars is much higher than most of us think. Although many companies are working on fuel-efficient vehicles and cleaner fuels but that will not completely eradicate carbon emissions from automobiles. We desperately need electric cars and trucks which will produce zero-emission than their conventional counterparts.

According to an estimate, there are 1.2 billion motor vehicles in use right now and out of those 1.2 billion vehicles, only 3.1 million are electric. By 2030 it is expected that a total number of the vehicles in use will exceed 2 billion and according to the International Energy Agency, during the same time, electric vehicle ownership will balloon to 125 million.

So let's do the math.

  • From 3 million to 125 million electric vehicles in 12 years. That is 36.45% compound annual growth rate for you !!
  • It is enough to convert $1000 into $73,357 in this period.
  • Now let's assume by 2050 there will be 3.5 billion vehicles (Conservative Estimate) in the world and all of them running on Clean Energy, then the same $1000 invested today will become $1,165,767. I have calculated the growth in dollar terms to make you understand how much growth we can expect from this one segment (There are other segments like robotics, aerospace, manufacturing, defense ... ugh!! the list is too long !!).

I feel before we achieve the numbers, EV industry needs to overcome major challenges related to battery technology and charging stations. The electric car batteries that we have today can take the vehicle up to 200 Miles on a single charge.

Currently, EVs are little expensive than their conventional counterparts and the lithium-ion battery Technology is also expensive to manufacture but by 2020 it is expected that EVs are going to cost the same as the fuel powered equivalent and with the advancement of new battery technology such as Lithium ion-Manganese oxide battery, we will have a much fuel efficient low-cost energy source which has a vast application spectrum.

"And that's why I feel Li-Ion batteries can become the true successor of Bitcoin & other Cryptocurrencies if considered for investment"

Stay tuned for the second part....

Forget Lithium, there is not enough of that, future of batteries is carbon

Hi @bubke .... thank you for your comments.. I think the next Gen battery technology will be based on Lithium ion-Manganese oxide battery ( which I have mentioned in my post). This core will have a lot of Manganese and very little lithium.. But it is interesting that you mentioned carbon.. are they working on something new? please share :-)

Have a look here but when i say carbon, i mean graphene actually. It is my expert friend who can not stop talking about it, i am not the expert. There are so many new promising techs now and i fully agree on a possible 10000x leverage if you know which one will be the next gen. Will follow you, keep us informed :-)

It depends if they can increase the efficiency of batteries. This is a critical point.

Hi @rhyscn .. thanks for commenting.. in my post i have already mentioned it...... "I feel before we achieve the numbers, EV industry needs to overcome major challenges related to battery technology and charging stations. The electric car batteries that we have today can take the vehicle up to 200 Miles on a single charge"

You will be surprised to know that the next Gen batteries will come with 15 year lifespan !!!

Nice post brother

if Li-Ion Batteries are successor of btc then its really good because we really need fuel free cars. and all those things those can not harm nature.

yes @rohitaren .. it is the need of the hour..
