Begin Where It Begins
Ah, yes, the almighty “Introduction.” Where I entice you into MY world with my wit and pix. Well, I have an abundance of one, maybe a little of the other. You decide.
See...I’m old. I hit 70 early this year. Anybody here older? And my backstory is kinda unique. I’m retired Air Force, a first generation techie...got my first computer in 1982. Had 3K of memory. The Commodore Vic-20.
Worked with weather satellites for Space Command, then went private sector in encrypted comm systems for the three letter Federal Agencies, pretty much all of ‘em. Military, embassies, the White House. Over 80 sites worldwide. It was fun.
Punched out for good in 2012. Hightailed it to Texas, quick like bunny. Little town outside San Antonio, out in the country, couple acres. Jes’ me and Kate. That there says it all, friend.
Enough about me. Believe me, in future posts, there’s a LOT about ole’ David. I’ve been writing for some years, mainly for myself, some for outfits I was involved in. An example is birds.
That’s a real passion of mine! BIG birds, specifically. I have three large macaws. (I really mean “we” almost anytime I say “I.” Wonder Wifey, Kate, is by my side in all I do.) That’ll come out in future posts, too. So, I’ll be startin’ with birds. Pretty much BIG birds, as that’s what I know, have studied, gotten tore UP learnin’ the hard way.
The saga begins in Tallahassee, FL. Goes back over 15 years. The first star is Caribe, my now 22 year old blue and gold macaw. After a few years, he’s joined by Bravo, who, now about 10, was a mere juvenile when I got him back in 2005. In 2012, “my” guys were joined by Gandolf, a hybrid large macaw. He’s pretty exotic. He’s called a “Hawaiian Sunset.”
All are rescues. Gandolf is the toughest story, by far. Caribe was loved, but his male owner died. Bravo was the victim of a failed relationship and came to me in a way one of my stories for future release will explain further.
All three are a full-length book in their own right. There's no pictures here for my inaugural post, but I have a LOT of images, all my own, or I’ve had them so long in my various libraries that if I’m crowdin’ any rights, it’ll be news to me. There WILL be pictures, trust me.
But, that ain’t all I’m about. There’s other passions in my slow paced, retired, ain’t got much to do, all day to do it in lifestyle.
Thing is, I got opinions. I make observations. I think about stuff, some way above my pay grade. I got theories...on just about everything. Bad habit, I suppose. Sometimes I seem to know stuff and I don’t know how it is that I know it. Know what I mean?
People been tellin’ me for years that I write stuff worth readin,’ even if they disagree with me. Comes out like I’m talkin,’ they say. One lady told me, “It’s like I’m sitting on my porch, swinging in a glider, sipping sweet iced tea, listening to you tell a story.”
That’s one of the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me. All I can say is that it seems to be a short trip from my brain to my fingers. I type about eighty to a hundred words a minute, even on the little Bluetooth keyboard and tablet I use, so if I think it, good chance it might end up on the screen.
Bottom line, I’m an old man, sittin’ on his front porch, sippin’ a Mountain Dew, listenin’ to music older’n you, most likely. Oh, that’s another passion...music.
Anyway, if what I got to say or show interests you, then c’mon along! If not...thanks for droppin’ by.
Be talkin’ to you…..Web Rydr
