A newbie with an old account.
Since 2019, I've had an account but never posted. Was it because of my unfamiliarity with cryptocurrency? Not entirely, though I was indeed a novice in that world.
Rest in peace, my dear friend @onos, who introduced me to Steemit in 2019. He was a loving friend. I remember the sunny afternoon when he suggested, "Why don't you join this?" He showed me the Steemit blog on his phone, but I couldn't grasp it. "What's this?" I asked. "It's a blogging platform".
Oga, leave me jor. I'm not a blogger, I responded. He took his time to explain everything bit by bit
"It's a social media platform where you can create any type of content. You can write your daily activities and post, you can post pictures of anything, you can write about any form of sports, make real friends, you can build a strong relationship with different people across the world, and at the same time get rewarded for all these.
Instead of wasting a hell lot of time chatting your life away on Facebook and Twitter, invest your time on steemit, and see the positive outcome"
Despite his enthusiasm, I remained unconvinced. But he persisted, outlining the platform's features and benefits. Then I asked him questions?
Why would they reward me for that? What's their business with my post, and where would they get the money to give me? Are they charity organizations?
He laughed in English, and explained the concept behind the Blockchain, which I found difficult to understand. Don't blame me, I've never done online stuff before, so it sounded impossible to me.
Eventually, I relented, and he helped me create this account before his untimely passing, leaving me directionless.
I could do nothing because there was no one to motivate, encourage, and put me through, hence @legwork lied fallow for years.
Life has since taught me much about online sthings and opportunities, especially in cryptocurrency. Motivated by this, I've ventured into trading and learning the ropes. But recently, thoughts of @onos and the dormant Steemit account resurfaced. I resolved to revive it, honoring his memory and following his advice.
"He said"
Always create original contents, and never try to plagiarize. Soon, someone will locate you, and you will begin to have friends.
This I hold dearly to my heart. I cherish his lead and instructions even though he's no more. I will try to always create my own content and not steal from others.
This is the begining of my journey.
Who am I
My name is John. I'm a Nigerian from the west. I'm a Secondary School Math teacher. I code a little. I'm an engineer by profession. Yet to be married, don't mind if I get one from here. Lol. I love cryptocurrency. I also have some innate abilities, that I display when need be. Do I like sports? Yes! Soccer.
As they say, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. This first post on Steemit is dedicated to @onos, whose legacy I'll carry forward as I embark on this new chapter. Rest in peace, friend. I'll always remember you.
I will be glad to connect with others. Thank you for having me.
