Krabi Animal Welfare - Introduction post

Greetings Steemit - we are Krabi Animal Welfare also known as K.A.W.

We are based out of Krabi, Thailand; which is located just about 800 km south-west of Bangkok.

We are a non-profit organization that operates off of the charitable contributions of animal lovers all over the world and veterinarians come and visit us to donate their skill and time.

Our aim is to ease the suffering of the stray dog and cat population of Krabi and the surrounding areas, because the animal control situation in Thailand is a little less than perfect. For the most part, animals grow up completely unchecked by society and live off of garbage and the generosity of strangers, but mostly the populations of stray animals in Krabi and the rest of Thailand continue to grow and this problem will only get worse as time goes by if no one does anything.

We were founded in 2017 and have been slowly growing since that time.

We are a small operation but are the only such operation in existence in the area. We receive no financial assistance from the Thai government and operate entirely by way of the generosity of others. We hope that with continued attention to the stray dog and cat population that we can make significant headway in improving the lives of these animals who have no one to look after them.

Our primary goals are

• Finding forever homes in Thailand or abroad
• treatment of skin diseases such as mange and other parasitic problems
• treatment and rehabilitation of injuries caused by abuse or traffic accidents
• and most importantly, sterilization of an already out of control population

On occasion, some of the images that I may post might be a bit graphic, but I will be certain to warn if that is the case.

The animals in the south of Thailand are a truly neglected group and we get great joy in helping them to get the love and attention that we feel they deserve. I am not here to beg for money, but simply to make people around the world aware of our efforts and progress and if they want to help us as well, that is just an added bonus. I became aware of Steemit through a friend that "wont stop talking about it," and i figured I may as well add it to our social media portfolio.

So let's see what happens. In the meantime, we are happy to join this very different-than-the-other mainsteam social media site.
